When we meet .... by Joseph Ardern
When we meet it must be forever,
for one moment with you and I'll want an eternity more
Nowhere left to hide, when you're tending my bloodied hands with the holes in yours
Can only see myself in your eyes, can only be free when I belong
No sweeter home than soaring upon the chords
of your sacrifice-written song.
I want to watch you, oh Lord, as you pray
See how your eyes are the same shape as the words you say
Gasping, for in those eyes are pools of healing waters.
Ever flooding forgiveness for your children,
they swell beyond their borders.
Let forever be the distance I fall from pride to my knees.
I'll hang upon your every moment, so close that I can't breathe.
Oh Lord, will I ever be able to bear your desire,
Knowing that whatever heaven I feel with you,
you will take me higher?
And when I'm overwhelmed and soul-volumed worship bursts from me,
When this world falls from my eyes and your love is all I see,
I will cry this is too much for me, protest I can't take it,
I don't deserve you ...
But your love keeps coming, defining light
that remakes as it shines through.
Oh my God, my friend, I'm unable to move,
it's impossible to stand.
Need forever to thank you
for the holes in your hands.
